Hi, I’m Jennifer! I’m a Portland native, but at heart I have always been a country girl. I’ve been horse crazy ever since I was a little girl and always knew I’d one day have a cute little farm in the country. I began my love of flowers as a 17-year-old newlywed! Yes, I said 17, crazy I know! I married my high school sweetheart who was enlisted in the U.S. Army, and we moved to Colorado the next week. My first job there was working at the Fort Carson Flower Shop as a delivery driver. Handing someone a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and seeing the joy it brought planted my love for floral design.
My husband and I eventually ended up in Washington state. I spent more than a decade working in the professional makeup industry. I helped with event planning and provided operational support for one of the largest make-up artist trade shows in the industry. The thought of working with flowers was always in the back of my mind and in 2018 I took the leap to become a certified floral designer at the Floral Design Institute. In 2018 I founded Farmhouse Floral and soon enlisted my retired mom, Shawn, to help create flowers for weddings and events full time.
Fun Fact:
I LOVE TO TRAVEL! I was blessed with getting to travel the world in my previous career. Some of my favorite places are Australia, Italy and London, England.
Owning a small business sure isn’t easy and playing with flowers is hard work! It is my mission to provide beautiful and affordable flowers for all of life’s special occasions. We choose to use locally grown flowers whenever possible and even have our own flower farm here on our 5-acre property. We currently grow a small scale of seasonal blooms through the summer months. My mom, Shawn, brings her green thumb to our farm and helps us in the fields and with weddings and events. It has been a dream to be able to spend so much time with her. Family and friends mean everything to me!
2020 was a rough year for so many! So far the best part for us is we were able to invest in our future and farm with with the Floret Online Workshop. I have wanted to take this course for several years and look forward to start the course in January 2021. I look forward to seeing how this helps our little farm grow. Stay tuned!
